Overview
Model EDGEPORT/422 is an intelligent, stackable expansion
module that connects to a PC or server via the Universal Serial Bus
(USB) port, providing four high-speed RS-422 serial ports. It features
easy connectivity for modems, printers, point-of-sale, and industrial
control devices that utilize a standard serial interface.
Why USB?
The USB architecture currently provided by Intel, Microsoft,
and most major PC manufacturers is designed to deliver an industry
standard for PC connectivity today. The PC industry is moving
rapidly towards a "locked-box" approach to computer design, which means you never have to remove the cover from your
computer to add a peripheral device.
By simply plugging in an EDGEPORT/422, you can:
Add four high-speed serial ports to your PC or server in seconds, using the setup wizard software.
Eliminate difficult configuration issues associated with high-priced, older card solutions (no PC slots required).
Avoid the hassle of removing your PC cover, or powering down the operating system during installation.
Attach additional EDGEPORT/422 modules as needed by snapping in our Model UH4100K powered USB hub.

The EDGEPORT/422 provides the scalability and flexibility to quickly adapt to new technologies. Multiple
EDGEPORT/422 modules can be added to a single USB interface, allowing customers to add WAN connectivity as
needed. The capability of future connectivity to devices such as xDSL and cable modems means your network can grow
with your requirements.
Setup is a wiz!
Simply plug in the EDGEPORT/422, install our wizard configuration software, and you're done! The EDGEPORT/422
USB technology means never having to deal with card slots, IRQ jumpers, DMA channels, or device addresses when
installing or connecting peripheral devices. The PC will recognize the device, automatically install the software, and run
diagnosticswithout rebooting your PC or server.
The bottom line
Since the EDGEPORT/422 is a user installable solution, corporate remote access and point-of-sale users dramatically
reduce field installation and downtime costs. The EDGEPORT/422 also provides connectivity to new and existing RS-422
