C8232
High precision photometry even at low excitation powers
Material evaluation such as in semiconductor research utiliz-
ing optical excitation in the near infrared region is a promising
field. However, this field has been severely limited in making:
measurements under weak excitation light, measurements of
samples emitting very low intensity, and measurements of
low-light-level transient phenomena such as fluorescence.
This is because conventional detector performance is inade-
quate in the near infrared region. Hamamatsu now introduces
the C8232 NIR (near infrared) Spectrophotometer specifically
developed for high-precision photometry in the near infrared
region. Using an NIR PMT (R5509 series) that exhibits high
sensitivity and high-speed response, the C8232 allows mak-
ing measurements using low power excitation light, thus mini-
mizing unwanted effects of excitation light on samples.
Two types of PMT are available for use with the C8232, allow-
ing a choice that best matches your application. These PMTs
have no problems with noise by cosmic rays, which is un-
avoidable in conventional germanium detectors.
Standard C8232 model uses a CW laser, but pulse-pumped
laser model with gated photon counting function is also avail-
able on request.
