Introduction
This high-performance Managed Layer 2/3
switch provides twenty-four 10/100 Mbps
Ethernet ports and two Gigabit Ethernet ports
for fast connection speeds and flexibility in
a 6U CompactPCI* form-factor board. The
PICMG* 2.16-compliant, in-chassis switch
minimizes external wiring, thus improving density
and reliability.
The Intel
NetStructure
TM
ZT 8101 10/100 Ethernet
Switch features an easy-to-use browser/Web-
based management console. It routes and
switches at full wire speed utilizing non-blocking
architecture, and has sophisticated multicast
protocols to limit unnecessary traffic. Front panel
ports provide multiple Fast Ethernet and Gigabit
Ethernet connections without the need for a
rear transition card. Additionally, it provides an
in-chassis switch fabric that can operate in a
redundant configuration.
The PICMG 2.16 Packet Switching Backplane
Specification blends the benefits of CompactPCI
with the broad acceptance of Ethernet. Intel's
high-performance building blocks simplify
development and provide an economical,
scalable path to the next-generation Internet
and voice communications network.
