GENERAL INFORMATION
The PI-800 Se
r ies atten uators are par t of the ne w Surfpac product line
featur ing good inter modulation perf ormance compared to their GaAs
counter par ts f or PCS/cellular base station use
. In addition, the PIN
diodes off er good po wer-handling capabilities and are less sensitiv
e to
electrostatic discharge pro
b lems . These f eatures are impo
r tant con -
sider ations in base station applications where the eff
ects of antenna-
related RF s witching and indirect lightning-induced
v oltage spik es are
present.

makes use of these adv
antages in a lo w cost surf ace-mount pa

PIN diodes are widely accepted as more rob
ust alter natives to GaAs
FETs and off er higher isolation with lo wer inser tion loss than plastic
packaged GaAs atte
n uators at P ersonal Comm unications Ser vice
(PCS) frequencie
s . The PI-800 Se
r ies analog atte
n uator incor por ates
PIN diodes with highly reliab le thick-film technology and sur
f ace mount
components on a miniature l
o w cost sealed sur
f ace mount alumina
header . This new atten uator provides a good match, flat atte
n
uation
and o ver all super ior performance o ver the 0.84 GHz frequency
range , and can be optimi
z ed o ver lower frequency r anges .
