The CS6208 is an integrated device specifically
targeted at embedded control applications that
require network access. It incorporates a high-speed
8032-compatible micro-controller core along with
64K bytes of on-chip program ROM and 32K bytes of
on-chip data SRAM. Up to 128K bytes of program
memory and 128K bytes of data memory can be
expanded by adding external memory to the
CS6208.
An on-chip crystal oscillator with PLL provides
simple clock configuration. An on-chip band-gap
reference generator provides precision reference
voltages for power-on reset and other references.
Network access is provided by moving packets
through transmit and receive buffers, and processed
by the Media Access Control (MAC) block. There
are 32K byte packet buffers local to the MAC. An on-
chip 10BaseT Ethernet transceiver allows direct
connection to a twisted-pair network environment.
Other network media, such as Home PNA, can be
accessed by the 7-wire EDEC interface using
external transceivers.
The CS6208 also includes standard port-1 and
port-3 of 8032. These ports include the functions of
serial port and interrupt, as well as timer inputs.
Additional 16-bit wide programmable I/O are also
included for external control. Two programmable

C interfaces are also included for
communications with other hosts or slave devices
such as EEPROM.
A 10-Bit SAR analog-to-digital converter with four
channel inputs allows the CS6208 to directly
interface with analog inputs.
The CS6208 operates within a wide voltage range
from 3.0V to 3.6V.
