QLogic's SANblade 4000 iSCSI host bus adapters extend the
company's award-winning line of SCSI and Fibre Channel SAN
connectivity products to include IP SANs. The SANblade
4000 Series enables Ethernet based SANs and supports
remote storage connectivity applications, exploiting the
extensive firmware and driver base available on QLogic's
SANblade Fibre Channel HBAs.
SCSI over IP: iSCSI. The SANblade 4000 Series
implements the current draft of the IETF iSCSI standard, the
new industry standard SAN technology based on internet
protocols: TCP/IP. iSCSI will enable new IP based SANs
which are similar to Fibre Channel SANs as well as a new set
of storage applications such as remote storage.
Enhanced Total System Performance. The SANblade
4000 Series implements the complete protocol stack,
including TCP/IP, on the board and off-loads all I/O protocol
processing from the host. This frees the system to perform
other tasks, delivering optimum total system performance.
The SANblade 4000 handles complete SCSI transactions,
iSCSI, TCP/IP and Ethernet. Changes to the iSCSI standard
will be accommodated with new code downloads from
updated drivers.
