Description
The OS8805 is a highly integrated
media processing system with on-chip
Flash program memory, and a full-
featured interface to the multimedia
MOST Network. The MOST Network
interface provides communication with
the Network, and control of other equip-
ment in the network. The OS8805 oper-
ates in a 3.3 V environment with a tem-
perature range of 40C to +85 C.
The OS8805 is a configurable media pro-
cessing system with built-in peripherals
making it ideal for radio, amplifier, or ac-
tive speaker systems. Proprietary sound
processing algorithms can be imple-
mented with the embedded DSPs.
On-chip stereo ADCs accept audio
inputs from existing sources such as
AM-FM radio or other analog sources.
Four channels of high-fidelity audio
DACs provide analog outputs for passive
speakers. The MPX ADC is suitable for
implementation of various radio standards. DSP0 also
controls two PWM DACs which can support high-
efficiency sub-woofer applications or a volume control
for low-power applications.

Configurable Signal Processing Platform with MOST
Network Interface
The Multimedia Platform
The OS8805 is a flexible hardware platform that can be
configurated for a wide variety of signal processing sys-
tem solutions.
Several versions for different applications are possible:
Active Speaker Controller
Headphone Controller
DVD, DVB Amplifier Controller
CD/MD Interface Controller
Low/mid Amplifier Controller without delay memory
Low/mid Amplifier Controller with delay memory
AM/FM Radio Controller
Video Display Controller
Bluetooth Telephone Interface Controller
The OS8805 is a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit,
which combines high-speed micro-controllers and digital
signal processors, with high quality analog circuitry.
The OS8805 has four processors, eleven ADCs and
DACs, and a variety of digital I/O. The Host Controller
has 128k bytes of on-chip Flash Program memory, sup-
porting easy updates during the design process as well
as in the field. The programmable Host Controller and
fixed-point DSPs enable the OS8805 to be a cost-effec-
tive solution for a wide variety of applications.
The MOST core provides a standard interface to the
MOST Network. It generates the timing for all compo-
nents on the chip, allowing the entire chip to operate syn-
chronously to the Network. Even when not connected to
the Network, the MOST core efficiently routes real-time
data between resources, such as the DSPs, Source Ports,
and Source Converters.
